NTUC members, especially the retrenched and from lower-income families, will benefit from free or subsidised connectivity with Singtel.

Up to 6,000 lower-income members and their families will benefit from free Singtel connectivity over the next five years.

NTUC and Singtel said the offerings for lower-income members aim to ensure they remain digitally connected and have access to educational resources.

NTUC and Singtel announced these benefits on 4 July 2024 following an agreement signing.

The agreement will also see support for retrenched NTUC members.

Singtel will support up to 50,000 retrenched members and young seniors with subsidised mobile, broadband, and TV subscription plans. This is in addition to the NTUC helping retrenched members with job matching through its Job Security Council.

Singtel's support is intended to help the retrenched members maintain digital connectivity and access online training, skill development, essential government and social services, and other resources while seeking employment opportunities.

NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng said that NTUC has made it its mission to look after the needs of workers in Singapore.

He added: “In a world where digital connectivity has become necessary, we are excited to partner with Singtel to ensure our members and their families have access to digital services that enable them to thrive.

“NTUC cares and will continue to fulfil the needs of our members in the areas of work, live, and play, so that no one is left behind in Singapore’s progress.”

Benefits for all NTUC members

All 1.3 million NTUC members can also enjoy exclusive offers and discounts across Singtel’s suite of consumer products, including mobile, broadband and TV.

Highlights of the offerings include substantial savings on phone plans and broadband services and a complimentary Singtel Red membership for one year, worth up to $500.

New NTUC and Singtel customers can soon sign up through a streamlined process that incorporates NTUC membership fees into their Singtel bills.

Championing digital literacy and scam awareness

Some 500,000 PMEs and migrant NTUC members will undergo digital literacy and scam awareness training.

The initiative aligns with NTUC’s focus on doing more for its members and Singtel’s goal of boosting cyber resilience and scam awareness among the public and businesses.

The digital literacy and scam awareness training will better equip them with the necessary tools and knowledge to deal with increasingly complex scams and protect their critical personal data.
