FairPrice Group (FPG) announced on 19 December 2024 that it will extend several of its existing discount schemes at all FairPrice supermarkets and Unity Pharmacies until the end of 2025.
FPG will extend its 3 per cent discount for Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) Blue and Orange cardholders every Thursday and Friday, respectively, and it will also lengthen its Pioneer and Merdeka Generation (PG and MG) discount schemes.
MG Singaporeans currently receive a 3 per cent discount every Wednesday, while PG citizens enjoy the same discount every Monday and Wednesday.
To benefit from these discount schemes, eligible customers need only present their respective membership cards upon checkout.
FPG said it is reaffirming its commitment towards supporting families and underprivileged Singaporeans, and that these efforts are part of its “wider commitment to make every day a little better” to help Singaporeans stretch their dollar.
“Stubborn inflation, supply chain infractions caused by COVID-19, and geo-political tensions continue to impact the cost of daily essentials … Through the extension of our discount schemes and upcoming initiatives, we will continue to help Singaporeans make every dollar count, and every day, a little better,” said FPG Group CEO Vipul Chawla.
NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng added that the extension of the discount schemes demonstrates NTUC’s unwavering commitment towards workers and their families.
He said: “FPG's continued efforts to keep essential goods affordable and accessible is an example of how we help our workers have better lives and livelihoods.
“As Singaporeans face rising costs of living, NTUC, together with NTUC Enterprise and its businesses, will continue working hand-in-hand to address Singaporeans’ concerns.”
Since 2019, FPG has returned over $900 million to members and the community through discounts, rebates, contributions, and donations.
This year, FPG launched various initiatives to help Singaporeans save money. These include price freezes ahead of Chinese New Year, FairPrice on popular seafood items and exclusive promotions.
FairPrice Foundation (FPF), the group’s philanthropic arm, also pledged $80,000 to assist seniors during the Lunar New Year period.
In May, FPG introduced $4.5 million in NTUC Union and Link member deals for May Day and launched the Save Every Day campaign, providing over 400 unique savings coupons worth more than $2,000.
FPF also led efforts to support the less fortunate and improve worker welfare. During Ramadan, it distributed over 60,000 Iftar snack sets. In May, it sponsored 50-cent kopi and teh promotions. In June, FPF donated 45,000 eggs to vulnerable groups.
FPG introduced the $1 breakfast set as part of the National Day celebrations. Shortly after, FPF distributed some 12,000 nutritious breakfast bundles to Primary 6 students – ahead of the national Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE).
In October, FPG also launched "A Full Plate," Singapore’s largest food donation drive, supported by FPF.
The foundation committed $1 million to the initiative, which provided nutritious groceries and hot meals to over 600,000 beneficiaries through 10 charity partners.
