The jump to a career in the accounting industry can now be realised for mid-career professionals who are clueless about the industry’s know-hows. NTUC’s e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) has taken another step in its chain of `Place and Train’ ventures. This time, the initiative is set to lure PMEs (Professionals, Managers and Executives) to shape their career with the new `Place-and-Train Accounts & Audit Professionals Programme’.
Teaming up with professional accounting body CPA Australia, e2i will provide participating employers training allowances. Subsidies up to 70 per cent of course fees are also extended for successful candidates who are recruited under this programme. Through this programme, mid-career professionals in Singapore without accounting work experience or accounting related qualifications can look forward to be hired and trained as Accounts or Audit professionals.
During their training, candidates will enrol in the CPA Program Foundation Level course which will equip them with the necessary basic accounting knowledge. It also provides them with a direct pathway to advance to the CPA Program Professional Level course, which will confer the globally-recognised CPA Australia professional accounting designation. To top this up, candidates will also undergo six months of on-the-job training (OJT) with participating employers.
And there is more in the training package. Under the programme, participating employers also commit to offer jobs to successful candidates on a permanent and full-time basis. The candidates will have starting salaries of at least $2,000, and receive a basic salary increase of at least 15 per cent upon completion of the programme.
Employers that hire candidates for professional accounting roles under this programme can apply for training support of up to $8,450 per eligible employee.
