21 February 2006
Media Release
1. In a move to provide better services to union members and cooperative customers, the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) has launched Xchange -- a new one-stop electronic system for members who need to update their contact particulars with NTUC, our unions and cooperatives.
2. With the implementation of Xchange, a union member who has just moved to a new address or changed his mobile number, need to only inform any one of the NTUC related organizations, and the system will automatically notify the member’s updated contact particulars to all the other relevant NTUC organizations where he is a member.
3. Speaking at a press briefing this afternoon, NTUC Assistant Secretary General Seng Han Thong described this new initiative as “another member centric initiative for more than two million of our union members and cooperative customers”.
4. He said,” Many of our union members are also members or customers of our various NTUC cooperatives. Hence, it is important that we tap the synergies among the NTUC, unions and cooperatives to provide the best and most convenient services to our members. The launch of Xchange is an example of such commitment.”
5. According to the figures collated from NTUC Group, the unions and NTUC cooperatives process about 25,000 requests per month to update members’ contact particulars. Many of these are duplicated requests as a result of multiple memberships held by the member in the unions and various cooperatives. With this new system, members need to only notify one of the NTUC related organization, and his particulars will be updated with all the others in the NTUC Group.
6. The NTUC Group started developing this new system one year ago, with NTUC Income employing technology to manage the contact particulars of the members and customers of NTUC Group. About half a year later, NTUC FairPrice, NTUC Income, NTUC headquarters and NTUC Link started on the trial to test the functionality of the system.
7. As of today, all the 63 unions, 6 taxi associations, NTUC headquarters and its cooperatives & related organizations – NTUC Club, NTUC Eldercare, NTUC FairPrice, NTUC Healthcare, NTUC Income, NTUC LearningHub, NTUC Link, NTUC Thrift have officially come on board this new system.
8. With this new system in place, members who wish to update their contact details can access the Address & Contact Update form at www.ntuc.org.sg, call us at NTUC hotline 6213 8008, or visit NTUC One-stop customer service centre at NTUC Centre, One Marina Boulevard. Alternatively, they can inform any NTUC cooperative of the update, and Xchange will automatically update their details with the other relevant NTUC organizations.
