Eric Wong, 35, Head, Talent Acquisition (Learning and Development) at Polycom Asia Pacific Private Limited could not have asked for more when his employer allowed him to work from home when his second baby arrived in June this year.

“I decided to opt to work from home the entire time of four months that my wife will be on maternity leave as she suffered from depression immediately after her first pregnancy. I did not want her to manage the family alone at this time again,” he said.

Mr Wong conducts web conferences with his colleagues based in other parts of the world. So, his company set up the necessary facilities in his laptop to enable him to work from home. On occasion, he attends meetings in the office.

Other male employees have also benefitted from the Flexible Work Arrangements (FWAs).

In addition, the company gives S$3,500 for medical bills to both male and female staff.

For its efforts to make working from home easier for fathers, Polycom Asia Pacific Private Limited won the Best Companies for Dads’ category of the ‘Best Companies for Mums’ Awards.
