Companies seeking to transform their workforce and help their workers pursue lifelong learning can now turn to NTUC with its recent establishment of the NTUC Training & Placement (NTUC T&P) Division.

The NTUC T&P Division is a one-stop intermediary that was set up this earlier this year to operationalise business and workforce transformation, as well as to better serve workers’ training and jobs matching needs.

During the inaugural NTUC Training & Placement Symposium held on 24 November 2021, Labour Movement, business community and Government leaders came together to discuss how companies can transform their businesses through technology adoption, job redesign and workforce training.

The symposium also examined how employers can leverage on support provided by NTUC and tripartite partners, so that businesses can keep up with disruptions that have been accelerated by COVID-19.

NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng was the guest of honour at the hybrid event held at Downtown East, which also saw the participation of some 50 physical and 100 online guests.

In his opening speech, Mr Ng said that the NTUC T&P Division will support companies in their transformation efforts, as well as serve workers’ training and job matching needs.

He said: “Instead of having a company go through different agencies or hoops within NTUC, we have decided to flip the system around and create an ecosystem where we will bring an integrated team to you. So, whether you are thinking about business transformation that will result in job redesign, upskilling of workers and ultimately job matching, we want to bring that integrated team concept or what we call ‘training and placement ecosystem’ to you.”

Training & Placement Ecosystem

The training and placement ecosystem refers to the system of support from NTUC’s e2i (Employment and Employability Institute), NTUC LearningHub (LHUB), NTUC Training & Transformation (T&T), and the Ong Teng Cheong Labour Leadership Institute (OTCi).

With NTUC T&P Division at the centre of this ecosystem, the NTUC business units and social enterprises will be one-stop intermediary to help companies transform.

This ecosystem will also work with external partners to value add to workers’ lifelong learning objectives.

Training Commitment

Five company representatives who attended the symposium, together with representatives from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and Singapore National Employers’ Federation (SNEF), signed an agreement with NTUC LearningHub during the event.

The signing marks their commitment to help workers and companies stay relevant and competitive through learning transformation with the aid of NTUC LearningHub’s (NTUC LHUB’s) Learning eXperience Platform (LXP).

The five companies were Certact Engineering, Certis, Copthorne King’s Hotel, M Hotel Singapore, PSA Singapore, and Resorts World Sentosa.

The LXP mobile application was launched at the NTUC Ordinary Delegates’ Conference (ODC) on 17 November 2021, and it is NTUC LHUB’s one-stop online learning mobile application that aims to deliver continuous and lifelong learning via modular, bite-sized, on-the-go learning.

NTUC LHUB will work closely with SSG, SNEF and employers to ensure that learning remains affordable; that stakeholders will tap on SNEF's extensive network of employers and support organisations' transformation efforts through the LXP; and that signatories will provide employees with on-the-go training that leads to strong employment outcomes.
