Active seniors who enjoy every moment of their aging in good spirits will just not stand still. That is why seniors came together for a ‘Walk For Wellness’ on the breezy morning of 31 March 2013. Organised by U Live, in partnership with the Healthcare Services Employees Union (HSEU), the walk was part of U Live’s commitment towards a healthy and active lifestyle.
`Walk for Wellness’ marks the First U Live and a U Live Club ( HSEU Alumni 55) jointly organised event, with the focus being on encouraging members to lead a Healthy lifestyle so that they can be a H2P2 (Happy, Healthy, Productive, Purposeful) individual.
U Live Clubs are formed at the union level and organise events targeting their U Live members. This also means that the members can initiate and lead such events for their peers. At the event, participants who brought family and friends to the event, started off a scenic 3km walk from Downtown East to Pasir Ris Park and back for a healthier and more active Sunday.
HSEU also kindly provided free health screening booths for the participants after the walk. Rounding off the morning’s exercise was a a fun and exhilarating session of Zumba and Cardio Kickboxing workout.
NTUC President Diana Chia and Advisor to U Live Committee Seng Han Thong were both present to grace the event. Both of them also showed their support for this event by walking the route together with the rest of the participants.
Some 300 members and the public took part in the event which was made free so that all could enjoy the walk while keeping fit and bonding with their family and loved ones. In fact, ‘Walk for Wellness’ was one of the three events happening at Downtown East on that day. eXplorerkid also celebrated Easter with the Great Easter Adventure, while Downtown East held the ‘Likes, Camera, Action’ photography contest throughout the day.
It was a full day of fun for bonding and relaxation with loved ones.
