Members of the Union of Security Employees (USE) now have access to more scholarship opportunities with the enhancement of USE’s scholarship and bursary schemes. At USE’s National Day Observance Ceremony (NDOC) today, USE inked a partnership with the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) to offer merit scholarships to USE members and their families.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), all USE members and their spouses/children may apply for the following merit scholarships:
The MOU aims to fulfil the following:
USE members and their children have another avenue of scholarship opportunity, in addition to USE’s own existing M. Sanji Scholarship and Bursary Awards that is given out yearly to USE members. In 2014, 154 USE members benefitted from $38,000 worth of scholarships and bursaries. This is a 50 per cent increase compared to the year before.
Applications for the M. Sanji Scholarship and Bursary Awards 2015 will open end of August.
The partnership offers a host of upgrading courses which USE members and their family members can tap on to upgrade their skills, while enjoying the benefit of rebates and scholarships.
Giving USE members access to more affordable education will allow them and their families the potential to improve their lives.
USE members and their spouses/children will also be eligible for discounts when enrolling into an academic course at MDIS. Additional rebates are also available if there are more sign-ups from the same USE intake and company.
Mr Steve Tan, Executive Secretary, USE, said, “I believe this tie up with MDIS is a step in the right direction, given what we have done in bringing the Progressive Wage Model (PWM) to reality, as well as the next steps we will take under SkillsFuture. All in, our members can look forward to more opportunities they can seize to improve their lives, their families’ welfare and their children’s future.”
