U Care Hardship Grant

This scheme aims to give assistance to union members or their next-of-kin when the sole or main breadwinner dies, becomes permanently incapacitated or suffers from serious chronic illness of non-industrial nature. A registered fire or flood victim who is a member is also eligible for the grant.

Objective

The U Care Hardship Grant provides a one-off assistance to low-income union members in the event that the member suffers hardship arising from one of the following circumstances which is of a non-industrial nature:
a. Death
b. Total and permanent incapacity
c. Serious chronic medical condition*
d. Registered fire or flood victim

* Pre-existing serious chronic medical condition diagnosed before the applicant became a Union Member will not be considered.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Union Members must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for the grant:

a. Total Monthly Gross Household Income of $1,800 and below; or
     Per Capita Income of $500 and below if gross household income exceeds $1,800

b. Minimum of 6 months continuous paid-up union membership at the point of application

 

Quantum

• $1,000 one-off payout
