This year’s Lunar New Year celebrations saw the United Workers of Electronics & Electrical Industries (UWEEI) Women’s Committee organising its yearly visit to its adopted home, the Moral Home For The Aged Sick. The union, its staff and branch officials brought many smiles to the residents of the home.
They are not the only ones reaching out to bring some cheer to those who need them the most.
Unions and other communities in the Labour Movement have been carrying out a variety of activities that reach out to the community over many years. They care for the elderly, and also show concern for the underprivileged. And they bring cheer to the disadvantaged.
Supporting these gestures is NTUC’s U Care Caring • Sharing • Reaching out (U Care CSR) initiative from NTUC U Care Fund.
The U Care CSR Co-Funding Scheme was introduced in 2011 to provide co-funding support for such meaningful endeavours. Since 2012, the U Care CSR Co-Funding Scheme has been enhanced with an additional co-funding mechanism encouraging the Labour Movement’s affiliated unions, associations and communities to Do Together and Do More in their community outreach efforts.
The scheme continues to support this cause this year too. United Workers of Electronics & Electrical Industries (UWEEI) is one of the unions that has tapped on this fund.
