The Singapore Teachers' Union welcomes The Announcement of the "Grow 2.0" Package

1. The Ministry of Education (MOE) announced the GROW 2.0 package at the Appointment Ceremony for Principals this afternoon. It builds on the foundation of the GROW package which was introduced in September 2006.
2. The Singapore Teachers’ Union (STU) has been in a series of discussions with the MOE over the past month on the various components of the GROW 2.0 package.
3. The STU is glad that MOE adopts a holistic approach in making the teaching profession better and more attractive with a comprehensive package for teachers. Besides enhancing the remuneration package and providing better career development prospects, it also focuses on an issue that is close to teachers’ hearts - greater work flexibility for better work-life harmony.
4. In conclusion, the STU is confident that the MOE is moving in the right direction in recruiting and retaining quality teachers. Given the robust economic growth and stiff competition for talents today, the overall remuneration package for teachers must stay competitive and keep pace with the private sector. It also underscores the Government’s commitment in ensuring that our younger generation, the future pillars of our nation, are developed and nurtured by quality and committed teachers.
