The Labour Movement welcomes Mr Ong Ye Kung onboard

1 The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) would like to extend a warm welcome to Mr Ong Ye Kung who will be joining the NTUC effective 1 December 2008 as Assistant Secretary-General.
2 Mr Ong is no stranger to the Labour Movement as he has over the last several years, in his capacity as Chief Executive for the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA), been instrumental in spearheading many initiatives to enhance the employability of workers and competitiveness of the Singapore workforce. Mr Ong is also a strong supporter and active partner of the Labour Movement’s core initiatives in employment and employability. He is the co-chairman of the Job Re-creation Programme (JRP) and a co-champion in the establishment of the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i). His leadership in WDA has been instrumental in strengthening the collaboration between government and the Labour Movement. His secondment to the Labour Movement will further add to this strong foundation.
3 As the Assistant Secretary-General, he will oversee the Labour Movement’s employment and employability programmes and initiatives. His appointment has the support and endorsement of the NTUC Central Committee.
4 With the appointment of Mr Ong, the Labour Movement now has two Deputy Secretaries-General (DSG) and three Assistant Secretaries-General (ASG) with the following broad duties and responsibilities:
