In the second installment of the Future Leaders Series organised by the NTUC Membership Department (MED) on 12 February 2014, NTUC Enterprise Group CEO Tan Suee Chieh spoke about the insights he had gained from his exciting career.
Named the “Outstanding CEO of the Year 2013” at the Singapore Business Awards last year, Mr Tan encouraged Professionals, Managers and Executives (PMEs) to take the initiative and step out of their comfort zones.
Mr Tan added that having the drive and focus to do better is also a gateway to success in the corporate world. He also reiterated that life should mean more than just corporate success.
The following is a ten-step guide, according to Mr Tan:

Risk Taking and Decision Making – Form habit to be the first to contribute or volunteer an idea

Managing your Reputation – Develop a personal brand which you can live up to

Managing your Boss and other Stakeholders – Become the “go to person”

Managing Conflicts – Resolve conflict at work, especially when it affects teamwork and efficiency

Building a Great Life – Pay attention to succeed in all aspects of life, not just in work
