30 April 2009
Media Statement
1 Land Transport Authority (LTA), together with Taxi Companies and Taxi Operators’ Associations (TOA), has come out with a Tripartite Advisory to all Taxi Drivers in response to the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Singapore elevating the alert level on the Swine Influenza.
2 TOA have obtained the commitment and support from all taxi companies that for taxi drivers who seek medical treatment and have been quarantined, the respective taxi companies would waive the drivers’ taxi rental during their quarantine period and help to alleviate the cost of medical treatments of the affected drivers with immediate effect. Taxi companies also committed to render further assistance to their taxi drivers to observe the Advisory issued, including the provision of disinfectants.
3 TOA will continue to monitor the situation and work closely with LTA and Taxi Companies to help fellow taxi drivers to overcome the challenges of the Swine Influenza.
