1. The Labour Movement has committed $650,000 worth of immediate reliefs for members of Taxi Operators' Associations (TOA) who suffer from flu by rolling out a comprehensive “U Care-TOA Immediate Relief” package on 9 July 2009 in response to the rising community spread of Influenza A (H1N1). The objective is to encourage drivers to seek medical attention when they are unwell and assure the public that taxis are safe for use and to ensure that taxi drivers are adequately covered and protected to combat the virus during the downturn.
2. As part of TOA’s concerted efforts to continually bring benefits and value to our members, TOA have sealed an agreement with Raffles Medical Group (RMG) to provide an affordable and comprehensive suite of outpatient services with effect from 7 September 2009. This is part of the ongoing enhancement to the “U Care-TOA Immediate Relief” package.
3. A preferential rate for all TOA members - Raffles Medical Group will be offering TOA a $23 special package. This package will also be extended to immediate family members including members’ parents, spouse and children under 21 years old.
4. “U Care-TOA Immediate Relief” - $15 subsidy for flu-related outpatient consultations - Under the “U Care-TOA Immediate Relief” package, each TOA member can enjoy a subsidy of $15 for up to three outpatient consultations for flu-related illnesses till 31 December 2009. This subsidy is now extended to all RMG clinics as well.
5. RMG’s islandwide network coverage - In addition to RMG’s selected 33 GP clinics, it will extend its services at its two medical centres at Changi International Airport’s Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 to TOA members.
6. Taxi Drivers’ Vocational Licence (TDVL) physical examination - TOA members will enjoy preferential rates for checkups that are required to obtain their Vocational Licences.
7. All TOA members will be able to visit RMG clinics at such rates with immediate effect. They will also receive letters inviting them to nominate their family members for this package. With this partnership, TOA members and their family will now be able to benefit from more choices islandwide and high quality medical care at affordable rates.
8. The President of Comfort Taxi Operators’ Association, Mr Wee Boon Kim said: “I believe that this new tie-up with Raffles Medical Group would enable our members and their families to have more choices and enjoy quality yet affordable medical care. Going forward, we would like to have more such collaborations to benefit our members.”
