The Chemical Industries Employees' Union (CIEU) is working together with the management of Leeden National Oxygen (NOX) to render assistance to all affected workers of the Tanjong Kling fire incident which happened on 12 October 2015.

The incident claimed the life of 30-year-old chemist and CIEU union member Lim Siaw Chian.

In a statement on a Facebook posting following the tragedy, CIEU wrote: “We are deeply saddened with the accident that happened at Leeden NOX this morning where our union member lost her life in the accident. Our deepest and heartfelt condolences go to her family and friends. We also wish those who have been injured a speedy recovery.”

CIEU added that upon hearing about the accident, it deployed its officers to go on site to give assurance to its members.

Safety Is Paramount
