To strengthen the leadership of the Labour Movement, NTUC President Mary Liew, on behalf of the NTUC Central Committee, sent a letter to Prime Minister on 16 April 2018 to request for suitable office holders to serve the Labour Movement. Prime Minister acceded to the Labour Movement’s request.
The NTUC Central Committee held a meeting this afternoon and officially appointed both Mr Ng Chee Meng, Minister for Education (Schools) and Second Minister for Transport; and Mr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry as well as National Development, as NTUC Deputy Secretaries-General. They were also co-opted into the NTUC Central Committee with effect from 23 April 2018.
Both Mr Ng Chee Meng and Mr Koh Poh Koon were introduced to about 150 key union leaders at a dialogue session held at NTUC Centre this evening by NTUC President Mary Liew and Secretary-General Chan Chun Sing.
