Local Internet wunderkind, Chua Jin Sen, better known as Dr Jiajia, has caused a stir online once again. Known for posting hilarious Singlish videos, this six-year-old recently posted a picture he took with a cleaner as part of NTUC’s ‘Tribute to Cleaners 2014’ online selfie contest. What moved the virtual community was his Facebook post about the picture.

“Hi Everyone, this is Uncle Anthony, he works at Marina Square Shopping Centre as cleaner for six months. He is [sic] 57-year-old, single. He does not have mobile [sic] or home phone. My mother said if this photo win [sic] a $100 voucher (Tribute to Cleaners Contest) for Uncle Anthony, we will bring it to him personally. Please like this picture to help Uncle Anthony to win the voucher.
Thank you very much & Good [sic] luck to Uncle Anthony,” he wrote with the help of his older brother and other family members.

A flood of comments soon followed with several giving their support to Uncle Anthony:

  • “Winning or not, Uncle Anthony, we are all behind you 100%.”

  • “Jiajia, that is really [sic] sweet thing to do for Uncle Anthony. Hope he gets enough likes and wins. You and your family are really lovely people to try and help Uncle Anthony.”

  •  “Can only [sic] like once. Does this help? Like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like…”

  • “A noble profession and I salute his happiness and good nature. He deserves highest [sic] respect for public service.”

Those in the cleaning profession also joined in:

  • “Good luck to Jiajia and Uncle Anthony. As a 23-year old, young cleaner myself, it’s really nice and heartmelts [sic] to see there are still kids still appreciating cleaners like us…”

  •  “If I could give a million like to Uncle Anthony, I will do it because my father is also a cleaner or we call it a janitor and im [sic] very proud of him…”

Many praised the Primary One student for his “noble intentions”, with one post that read, “Great boy with a heart of gold. Thanks for showing us that kind people still exist today.”

Dr Jiajia replied to the comments the next day saying, “This really surpass [sic] our expectation. We never expect [sic] our picture with cleaner Uncle Anthony will [sic] reach 1.7m people and garner 112k likes 18 hours after posting it.  Thank you all so much for your kind support to help Uncle Anthony win a S$100 voucher for the Tributes To Cleaners Contest.”
