Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) recognised a total of 66 individuals and organisations for their contributions to the Fintech industry on 26 September 2019 at the inaugural Singapore FinTech Awards and Gala Night. SFA has been an NTUC U Associate since 2017.
Winners of the FinTech Outstanding Achievement Awards included Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Managing Director Ravi Menon, and MAS Chief FinTech Officer Sopnendu Mohanty.
NTUC and NTUC’s e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) also received awards for their partnerships with SFA.
NTUC Assistant Secretary-General Patrick Tay who took the awards on behalf of NTUC said: “I am heartened to receive the award on behalf of NTUC. SFA and the Labour Movement have been working closely together the past three years, especially since SFA became our NTUC affiliate and chapter of BFSU [Banking and Financial Services Union] earlier this year.
“In response to developments and disruption in the financial sector, we have through this partnership outreached and upskilled our workers in the area of FinTech. We look forward to this close partnership with SFA to ensure our workers stay ready, relevant and resilient.”
The event also saw an agreement signed between SFA and Institute of Technical Education (ITE) to collaborate in training and developing talents in the field of FinTech.
As part of the signing, SFA presented bursary awards to six ITE students from the School of Business and Services and School of Electronics and ICT.
“FinTech has become a key driver of Singapore’s digital economy and the Smart Nation initiative. This partnership between SFA and ITE is timely as we build the skills of ITE students in this field, to meet rising manpower needs in the FinTech sector,” said ITE CEO Low Khah Gek.
