The Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) has raised $100,000 for the NTUC-U Care Fund under the Fintech for Good initiative.
The sum donated will be used to provide financial assistance to lower-income union members as well as their families.
The SFA recognised the individual and corporate members for their contributions during the Singapore FinTech Festival 2020 held on 8 December 2020.
In a release by the association, SFA President Chia Hock Lai said it is a challenging time for many. He added that it was the SFA’s honour and privilege to be able to kickstart the initiative alongside NTUC U Care to assist those in need.
He said: “We are deeply humbled by the amount of support and donations we have received from both individuals and corporate donors.
“We strongly believe Singapore is poised to come out of the pandemic stronger and once again, strengthen its position as the leading FinTech hub and financial centre in ASEAN.”
NTUC Assistant Secretary-General Zainal Sapari expressed his appreciation on behalf of NTUC for the support by the SFA and its corporate members.
“With their contribution, we will be able to extend the support for these workers to tide through these difficult times and find opportunities to uplift themselves through subsidised training programmes,” he said.
Fintech for Good is a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Joint Initiative between the SFA and NTUC U Care, as part of the Singapore FinTech Festival 2020.
Its beneficiaries include union members, the elderly, children and youth, as well as the underprivilege.
