This year, 57 employees received the ‘Employee of the Year’ award at the annual Productivity Seminar cum ‘Employee of the Year’ and ‘Productivity Idea’ Awards presentation ceremony. Jointly organised by the Food, Drinks and Allied Workers Union (FDAWU), NTUC, and Singapore Hotel Association (SHA), the event also saw nine hotels commended for improving their productivity.
One of the winning employees is 65-year-old, S.K. Vincent. Mr Vincent is a Doorman at Grand Park Orchard. But he imbibes his service with a special touch that has warmed many guests’ hearts.
There was a guest from Myanmar who checked into the hotel with his elderly, handicapped father. Mr Vincent pushed the old man across to Mount Elizabeth Hospital every day for nine days straight.
“To me, serving my guests is what I love and enjoy doing, just like my hobby,” he said.
