Nine hotels saved a total of 32,500 man-hours saved in a year and were applauded for their efforts at the annual Productivity Seminar cum ‘Employee of the Year’ and ‘Productivity Idea’ Awards presentation ceremony. Jointly organised by the Food, Drinks and Allied Workers Union (FDAWU), NTUC, and Singapore Hotel Association (SHA), the event also saw 57 employees recognized as ‘Employees of the Year’ for their outstanding work performance and commendable service at their respective organisations.
NTUC Assistant Secretary-General and NTUC Cluster Lead for Hospitality and Consumer Business Cluster, Yeo Guat Kwang, was the Guest-of-Honour.
One of the winning hotels was Shangri-La Hotel Singapore which emerged champion in the ‘Productivity Idea’ Awards category for actively engaging its employees from various operating departments in a productivity improvement focus group session.
Their feedback helped to ease daily operations while enhancing guests’ experiences. The hotel’s Productivity Incentive Plan, which rewards employees for ideas implemented, saw a total of 13 new productivity initiatives proposed. Collectively, these initiatives will save more than 4,100 man-hours a year for the hotel.
