Professionals, Managers and Executives (PMEs) can look forward to more enhanced and focused services and programmes from the Labour Movement, starting with the online Workplace Advisory service.
Speaking at a media briefing this morning, Mr Patrick Tay, Director (Legal Services Dept and PME Alignment Unit) of NTUC shared that the Labour Movement will roll out initiatives based on the key pillars of 4Ps.
These include: Protecting PMEs through advocacy and workplace rights; assist PMEs in Professional Development & Progression to prepare them for future challenges; assist PMEs in career Placement through employment and employability opportunities; and bringing exclusive Privileges to meet the needs of the PMEs.
As part of the effort to protect PMEs through advocacy and workplace rights, he said PMEs can now take advantage of the Workplace Advisory, an enhanced version of an online advisory service formerly known as the Industrial Relations Information System.
The enhancement comes about as PMEs today increasingly encounter more complex and occasionally transnational issues and queries.
The web-based Workplace Advisory service is supported by full-time lawyers from the NTUC Legal Services Department who can provide legal advice exclusively to union members, in particular for complex queries.
Union members will also be able to download a free app for Android and iPhone, allowing them access to the service anytime, anywhere.
Mr Patrick Tay added that NTUC and the Labour Movement recognise that they have a rapidly changing workforce with a growing profile and a growing number of PMEs. As such, there is a greater need for the Labour Movement to play a bigger role to better protect and look after their interests and welfare.
NTUC will expand its outreach to protect PMEs through advocacy and workplace rights with a focus on four vulnerable groups: mature PMEs, young PMEs, freelance PMEs and women PMEs.
