Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife, Mdm Ho Ching, joined 80 past and present leaders from NTUC and unions on 10 July 2019 to tour the ReUnion Exhibition by NTUC at the National Museum of Singapore.

They were hosted by NTUC President Mary Liew and NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng, and members of the NTUC Central Committee.

Among the 80 NTUC and union leaders were former NTUC presidents, former NTUC secretaries-general, former NTUC Central Committee members, former Labour Members of Parliament, and CEOs of NTUC Social Enterprises.

The guests took time to explore the past, present and future of the Labour Movement at the exhibition.

They got up close with the artefacts from the 1969 NTUC Trade Union Seminar on “Modernization of the Labour Movement”; used augmented reality to wear watches that were presented to Mr and Mrs Lee Kuan Yew in 1953 by the postal union and created their own GIFs at the FutureBooth.

ReUnion – Celebrating our Past. Inspiring Our Future.

The exhibition was organised by NTUC to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the landmark NTUC Modernization Seminar held in 1969. Visitors at the exhibition will get to explore the Labour Movement’s modernisation journey through stories, memorabilia and experiences.

The exhibition aims to foster a better understanding of the Labour Movement’s role in nation building and its continuous push for better wages, welfare and work prospects for all workers. It was officially opened by Singapore President Halimah Yacob on 4 July 2019, and will run until 10 November 2019. Admission is free.
