Some 200 healthcare workers at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) were greeted early this morning by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and key NTUC leaders led by NTUC President Diana Chia and NTUC Secretary-General Lim Swee Say.
The visit symbolises recognition of healthcare workers - comprising nurses, attendants, doctors, cleaners and patient service associates - for their contributions and dedication to carrying out their jobs.
"I feel very happy that the Prime Minister chose to visit TTSH on this auspicious day. It’s a very good moral boost for us healthcare workers as we are working hectic shifts, and it gives us a lot of motivation to give more in this healthcare sector," said Assistant Nurse Nur Adilah Bte Ibrahim.
Healthcare Services Employees' Union President K Thanaletchimi added that healthcare workers have always been at the forefront of all health issues, especially when there were pandemics in Singapore and it is important that the Prime Minister acknowledges the contributions made by the healthcare workers and all categories of workers because they work as a team.
“It is an honour for the healthcare workers because they feel that the PM pays great importance to what they do, the services that they provide to the patients.
"The impressive thing about the PM's visit is he did not only focus on doctors and nurses but he felt that the workers at the forefront and the backend should be all appreciated," said K Thanaletchimi.
