SINGAPORE, 3 December 2012 – To highlight the importance of quality, affordable and comprehensive healthcare, the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and Parkway Shenton, Singapore's leading primary healthcare solutions provider inked a landmark agreement to enhance the current package enjoyed by over 700,000 members for three years.
From 3 December 2012, NTUC members from all walks of life can access a variety of medical services at affordable prices and enjoy savings compared to the usual rates for non-NTUC members. They include general practitioner (GP) services, travel vaccination packages, health screening and medical wellness packages at Parkway Shenton clinics, customised medical specialists’ packages at Parkway East Hospital, as well as accident and emergency services at Parkway Pantai hospitals in Singapore.
On the partnership, Mr Richard Sim, an NTUC member said “I am happy with the additional benefits and potential savings, healthcare costs are very important to everyone now; and this will help me lower my expenses in the long run.”
Access to Comprehensive Primary Healthcare and Screening Services
Under the terms of the agreement, NTUC members are entitled to pay just S$22 for each visit to the general practitioner (GP) clinics under the Shenton Medical Group Clinics. This fee covers basic medical consultation for acute illnesses and up to three generic medications.
Costs of selected screening tests waived
In support of the nationwide drive to encourage healthy living, Parkway Shenton will for the first time waive the costs of regular screening tests for follow-up cases of certain diagnosed chronic diseases. This applies to screening tests for hypertension, high blood cholesterol, diabetes mellitus and obesity. Health screening packages are also available at affordable rates to all NTUC members, for both the comprehensive Executive Health Screening packages as well as the Basic Health Screening packages.
Specialist Medical Packages at Parkway East Hospital
Parkway Shenton has also roped in Parkway East Hospital to provide NTUC members with a variety of medical packages which include a broad range of clinical disciplines and subspecialties in surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics, ophthalmology and otolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat). In terms of inpatient benefits, NTUC members will enjoy complimentary upgrade from four-bedder to two-bedder in Parkway East Hospital2.
In addition, NTUC members can avail of services at Accident and Emergency departments at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital and Parkway East Hospital, starting from as low as S$703.

The agreement was signed by Mr Vivek Kumar, Director, NTUC Membership, and Dr Chai Chin Yoong, Chief Executive Officer of Parkway Shenton on 22 October 2012.
