The NTUC-U Care Fund is once again rolling out its NTUC U Stretch and U Care Back to School assistance programmes for low-income union members this year.  NTUC is setting aside $2.675 million worth of U Stretch Vouchers to potentially help 31,500 union members to defray their costs of living and maximise their expenditure on basic necessities.  In addition, $3.8 million worth of U Care Back to School Vouchers will go towards helping 30,400 school-going children which will lighten union members’ financial burden in buying new school supplies for their children’s new school year.

Mr Zainal Bin Sapari, Assistant Secretary-General and Director, Care and Share Department, NTUC, said, “We have raised the income criteria this year and expect about 11,000 more beneficiaries for the two assistance programmes, compared to 50,000 beneficiaries last year. This is the Labour Movement’s commitment to help as many low-income members as possible so that they can cope better financially.”

The NTUC-U Care Fund would like to thank all its donors for their generous contributions, in particular the Singapore Labour Foundation, NTUC FairPrice Foundation, NTUC’s social enterprises such as NTUC Income, NTUC Choice Homes, NTUC-affiliated unions and association, management and tripartite partners, as well as corporate and individual donors. It is through such generous giving to the NTUC-U Care Fund that enables the Labour Movement to continue its efforts in providing assistance to low-income union members and their families.
