At the time of this article, the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) has raised over $488,000 for the migrant worker community through giving.sg.

The campaign aims to extend support to the migrant worker community here in Singapore who have been adversely affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

Funds raised through giving.sg/mwaf/migrantswecare will go towards making ex-gratia payments to workers who have been displaced; food and accommodation for workers who are unable to work or return home; and daily essentials such as toiletries.

The campaign, which ends on 8 May 2020, hopes to raise $800,000 for the migrant worker community.

The MWC Spirit

On 11 April, the MWC distributed over 200,000 reusable masks to migrant worker dormitories across the country – an amount that should cover around two thirds of the migrant worker community living in dormitories.

The centre has also bottled some 350,000 bottles of hand sanitising solutions to be distributed to the dormitories this week.

On their Facebook post, MWC showed their appreciation to the public, stating: “We thank the generous donors for their support to our migrant community and to our migrant brothers and sisters; we pray you stay strong and keep safe!”
