Professionals, managers and executives (PMEs) looking to explore a green job now have more options with the launch of the Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) for Energy Management Sector by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and Sustainable Energy Association of Singap... (SEAS), an NTUC U Associate.

This was announced by Senior Minister of State for Environment and Water Resources Dr Amy Khor at the SEAS 10th Anniversary Dinner on 14 July 2016.

Scheduled to run over two years from 1 August 2016 to 31 May 2018, the PCP is expected to benefit some 40 PMEs. Each candidate will undergo three months of training.

LEARNING THROUGH EXPERIENCE

Administered by SEAS, the programme works on a place-and-train mode. Successful candidates will first be hired by the participating companies before commencing a combination of facilitated classroom learning with a project component, and on-the-job training customised to the operations of the five participating companies.

Participants will attain two Statements of Attainment under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications following the theory sessions.

“With the increased focus on smart and sustainable urban practices around the world, we need to build up our talent pool of Singaporeans who have deep skills to design solutions to help cities grow sustainably.

“Through the PCP, participating companies will be able to recruit and develop a pipeline of local project managers who are able to design, install and manage the solar system to support the increased adoption of solar energy use,” said WDA Chief Executive Ng Cher Pong.

OTHER OPTIONS

Besides the PCP for Energy Management Sector, SEAS also offers the Sustainable Energy Development Programme, a sampler of what PMEs can expect to experience in the sustainable energy sector. This is in
partnership with NTUC’s U Associate programme.
