The Union of Telecoms Employees of Singapore (UTES) and the Singapore Organisation of Seamen (SOS) together with Seacare Co-operative Limited extended their utmost gratitude to long-time members.
At the Retirement Award Presentation, 105 UTES members received a one-off $150 cash award from NTUC Deputy Secretary-General Heng Chee How. These are members who have reached the retirement age of 62 years.
Two of the recipients Ngiam Seng Chin and Jamari Soomadi, both 63, commended the union’s efforts in caring for the welfare of its members.
“Back then, my school-going children received the UTES bursary award and it enabled them to purchase the necessary textbooks for the school year. It was a great help,” Mr Jamari shared.
The Singapore Organisation of Seaman (SOS) and Seacare Co-operative Limited also hosted a luncheon on 14 February to recognise the unwavering support of its members.
Two members received the 15-Year Membership Award and 18 members were the recipients of the 30-Year Membership Award.
Besides the award ceremony, the organisers also distributed $50 red packets and goodie bags to 60 elderly residents from three welfare homes who were invited at the event.
