Four union leaders from the Labour Movement have been conferred the 2015 National Day Awards by the President of Singapore.
NTUC President Diana Chia, was awarded the Public Service Star (BBM). She is also the General Secretary of the Healthcare Services Employees’ Union.
Three others received the Public Service Medal (PBM): Mr Martin Chan Wing Sing, General Secretary of the Air-Transport Executive Staff Union; Mr Tan Chee Tiong, General Secretary of the Chemical Industries Employees’ Union; and Ms Sylvia Choo Sor Chew, Executive Secretary of the Singapore Industrial and Services Employees’ Union and Director of NTUC Women’s Development Secretariat.
Tripartite Awardees
The award also went out to winners from the various bodies and tripartite committees affiliated to the Labour Movement
They are: Mr Stephen Lee, former President of the Singapore National Employers Federation, who was conferred the Order of Nila Utama (First Class).
Mr K Karthikeyan, NTUC Vice President and Chairman of the Workplace Safety and Health Council, Chemical Industries Committee and Mr Lim Jit Poh, Chairman of SLF Leisure Enterprise and Pasir Ris Resort. They were awarded the Public Service Star (BBM).
Ms Chua Yeok Mei, Senior Assistant Director of the Singapore Labour Foundation received the Commendation Medal.
