NTUC’s e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) will take over two career centres and 10 jobs and skills centres from Workforce Singapore (WSG) from 1 April 2024.

WSG will shift its focus upstream and work with partners, labour market intermediaries and employers to strengthen career facilitation, while NTUC's e2i will boost its ground outreach and facilitation efforts.

NTUC's e2i and WSG issued a joint release of the announcement on 11 March 2024.

With the strategic transfer, NTUC's e2i will manage 26 career and job services touchpoints islandwide.

This includes four career centres at the Devan Nair Institute for Employment and Employability, One Marina Boulevard, Our Tampines Hub and Woodlands Civic Centre, and 22 Jobs and Skills Centres (JSC) islandwide.

The various locations can be found here.

WSG will continue operating its flagship Careers Connect, situated at Lifelong Learning Institute.

Strengthening support for jobseekers

NTUC's e2i said that managing more career touchpoints will allow it to bring its personalised career coaching, skills upgrading advisory and job matching services closer to more communities around the island.

By leveraging NTUC’s extensive community network, NTUC's e2i stated it remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting jobseekers and will continue to focus on helping workers—especially PMETs, youths, mature workers, vulnerable workers, and back-to-work women—find employment opportunities.

With an augmented talent pool, e2i is strategically positioned to deliver enhanced levels of career services and tailored solutions to better support its employer partners,” it shared.

Ensuring a smooth transition

According to the release, NTUC's e2i and WSG said they will work together to ensure a smooth transition for Singaporeans who need employment assistance.

WSG’s clients currently receiving career coaching services from the career centres at Our Tampines Hub and Woodlands Civic Centre will continue to be served by their existing coaches.

Individuals can also continue to seek career advice through WSG’s mobile network, Careers Connect On-The-Go (CCOTG).

WSG shared: “Helping Singaporeans stay employable and take a more active role in managing their careers remains a key priority for the Government and NTUC.

“WSG will work closely with its partners, including NTUC's e2i, in workforce development and to enhance the career health of our workers, in tandem with Singapore's economic transformation.”
