Jurong East Street 21 is the new home of the National Trades Union Congress’ (NTUC) e2i (Employment and Employability Institute).
The enhanced $70 million one-stop centre stands firm in its mission to be the marketplace for workers, employers and training providers with bigger, better and wider partnerships.
e2i Chief Executive Officer Gilbert Tan said that it is important for workers to find good jobs and be continuously skilled to do the jobs needed in the future.
“On the employers’ side, it is important that they are continually upgrading their own jobs for productivity. From the point of productivity, as well as labour, e2i partners both employers and workers in this aspect to be able to better capitalise on the labour and the new economy,” Mr Tan shared.
Started on 1 February 2008 at 141 Redhill Road, e2i has walked the ground with workers by actively helping them secure better jobs, assisting retrenched workers in cross-skilling and up-skilling.
In 2010, it advocated and administered the Inclusive Growth Programme (IGP) enabling gain sharing among workers.
e2i has also embraced all spectrums of the workforce from both rank and file and PMEs (Professionals, Managers and Executives).
“We want to be a one-stop centre to help both workers and employers address their employment and employability needs. e2i is committed to make every worker a better worker, every job a better job, and match better workers to better jobs,” Mr Tan added.
