NTUC's clarification on Customer-Centric Initiative

30 August 2005

“ONE NATIONAL MOVEMENT, MANY INITIATIVES”
I refer to The Straits Time’s article, entitled “20,000 retail workers lead way to top service” and dated 27 August 2005, by Ms Krist Boo.

2 In the article, Ms Boo quoted me as saying that the Customer-Centric Initiative (CCI) launched on 26 August 2005 was “not linked to the panel led by Second Finance Minister Mr Raymond Lim” and that I referred to CCI and the panel led by Minister Raymond Lim as "two movements".  This is not the case.

3 I would like to clarify that even though CCI was conceived by the National Trades Union Congress at the beginning of this year, it is positioned as one of the many initiatives under the single and broader national movement now being led by Minister Raymond Lim’s panel.  Thus, the CCI is very much linked and aligned to the overall national movement led by Minister Raymond Lim – to steer Singapore towards service excellence and greater customer satisfaction.
