In order to help Singaporeans re-join the workforce, Minister of State for Manpower Dr Amy Khor announced a new programme during her speech in the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) Committee of Supply 2013.

WorkPro will give mature residents and back-to-work locals, comprehensive support to return to work. WorkPro will also encourage employers to cultivate progressive workplaces, through providing help and support when they employ mature workers and back-to-work locals, or place their employees on flexible work arrangements (FWAs).

Responding to the announcement on WorkPro, NTUC Assistant Secretary-General Cham Hui Fong shared that the Labour Movement welcomes the programme which will provide better support in attracting and recruiting more female workers and older workers back to the workforce.

Ms Cham said: “Companies will now have added incentive to enable older workers to continue in active and meaningful employment.” She added: “It is heartening that the funding can now support both companies and the job-seekers in encouraging work-life harmony to ensure a win-win for both parties.”

“The Labour Movement, through its Women’s Development Secretariat (WDS) and U Live@Work, will continue to work with the relevant agencies, and broaden its outreach to companies and union members, to help more female and older workers re-join the workforce,” said Ms Cham.
