30 May 2010
1. The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) month-long “Power of U” campaign launched on 25 April 2010 came to a close as NTUC celebrated the campaign’s resounding success this afternoon at City Square Mall. The campaign saw more than 10,000 working people joining the Labour Movement as new union members in May, with more than 1,000 new members receiving their instant membership cards to enjoy immediate privileges and savings. Additionally, the NTUC Membership Facebook fans also tripled its fan base in May with the campaign’s conclusion.
2 The ‘Power of U’ campaign saw NTUC partnering all of its 12 social enterprises and nearly 50 corporate partners to bring a suite of attractive offers and deals to members in May. NTUC also reached out to 550,000 NTUC members of all collars, ages and nationalities through the campaign. As NTUC continues to work towards its one million membership target, it will be rolling out more products and services that bring greater value to its members. For example, the instant membership card was welcomed by many, especially the Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMETs), who signed up at the membership recruitment road shows. To extend the Labour Movement’s outreach to the masses, members of the public will be able to see the NTUC membership recruitment teams at locations within the Central Business District like Raffles Xchange and Tanjong Pagar Xchange; satellite town centres like Jurong Point Shopping Mall, Ang Mo Kio Hub and Tampines Promenade; and MRT stations at Sembawang, Lakeside, Khatib, Tampines, Aljunied and Woodlands.
3 At the closing event, Guest-of-Honour NTUC President John De Payva, presented prizes to the 4th Weekly Lucky Draw winners and the Grand Lucky Draw winner. In total, NTUC gave out a total of up to 5.5 million LinkPoints and $20,000 worth of NTUC Income GrowthLink Policy to eight lucky members over the month long campaign. On top of that, the Grand Lucky Draw prize, an NTUC Income GrowthLink Policy worth $25,000, was also given out.
4 President John De Payva said, “The Labour Movement is here to serve our members and working people of Singapore. Besides providing work-related assistance through the unions, we are also constantly bringing greater value to our members. We hope the products and services that we bring to our members at work, live and play will further enhance their membership experiences with us as we continue to engage and create lifelong relationships with them. We hope more working people can enjoy the privileges brought to them by the Labour Movement.”
5 Members and the public also had the opportunity to vote for their favorite photos submitted by members during the one month campaign. The online photo competition, entitled “Moments of U”, captured precious moments of members at work, live and play. The top eight winners of the photo competition won themselves digital photography equipment from Canon and photo products from HP Photo Centre worth over $2,500.
