The NTUC-U Care Fund has once again been named one of the winners of the Charity Transparency Awards.
Organised by the Charity Council, the award recognises charities for their exemplary transparency and disclosure practices.
The NTUC-U Care Fund has won the award every year since the awards started in 2016. It is understood that the fund was assessed based on publicly available information and sources such as financial statements, annual reports, governance evaluation checklist, the NTUC-U Care Fund website, and its Facebook page.
This year, 47 charities managed to clinch the award. They were among the 800 charities who were considered for the prize.
“The millions raised every year is to provide financial assistance to our needy union members and their families. Glad that we are recognised for exemplary transparency and disclosure practices.
“A big thank you to the Charity Council for the recognition; and to all donors and supporters for believing in our cause,” shared NTUC Care and Share Department Director Zainal Sapari in a Facebook post. Mr Zainal is also NTUC Assistant Secretary-General.
The NTUC-U Care Fund was established in 2009 to consolidate the Labour Movement’s efforts to better the welfare of low-income union members and their families.
Since its inception, the NTUC-U Care Fund has helped union members in need through various assistance programmes such as discount vouchers for groceries, back-to-school vouchers, funding support for bursaries and scholarships and family recreation packages.
