NTUC and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) have put pen to paper in a Memorandum of Understanding on 23 August 2016 that will see both organisations working together on the U Future Leaders Global Programme.
The initiative aims to partner multinational companies (MNCs) to groom aspiring Singaporeans for leadership positions. For a start, six MNCs have come on board to pilot the programme.
The organisations will offer promising Singaporean candidates working for them opportunities to build up key leadership attributes, develop relevant competencies, and gain international exposure that will facilitate their career progression.
The programme is open to MNCs within NTUC’s U Circle of Friends. This is a network of regional chief executives and managing directors from large multinational companies and chambers of commerce based in Singapore.
A FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE
“To be able to better compete at a global level, our Singaporean talent will need not just the right attitude, skills and knowledge, but also relevant experience and overseas exposure.
“We are excited to partner with EDB and work with our U Circle of Friends who have shown remarkable commitment towards opening up opportunities for Singaporeans and groom the next generation of corporate leaders who can hopefully take on top management positions in these large corporations in the future,” said Vivek Kumar, director of NTUC’s U Future Leaders Programme.
