As part of its efforts to enhance value for its members, NTUC Membership now brings another U privilege to its members! NTUC members can now enjoy rebates at the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) when they wish to sign up for courses to upgrade themselves professionally.
This new partnership was inked under a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) under the U Associate Programme on 18 October 2011. The agreement was signed by NTUC Competency Director (Membership) Vivek Kumar and MDIS Secretary-General Dr R Theyvendran, PBM. NTUC Director (PMEs & Legal Services) and Member of Parliament for Nee Soon GRC Patrick Tay was present to witness the ceremony with MDIS Assistant Secretary-General Roger Tham.
Under this agreement, MDIS will award scholarships and/or study grants capped at $5,000 each to four deserving NTUC members on an annual basis. In addition, any of NTUC members can also save up to $500 (refer to box facts for more details).
Both NTUC and MDIS were elated that more PMEs members are able to benefit greatly from this signing. Dr Theyvendran commended that it is a good structured approach together and to offer more benefits to a larger pool of recipients through both NTUC and MDIS.
Added Mr Kumar: “The MOU signing today marks the start of a special and long-term partnership with MDIS. It is important that NTUC Membership can provide excellent opportunities for our members to upskill and upgrade themselves, so that they can look forward to the future with confidence, and win despite competition across the region and globally. NTUC Learning Hub and Next U have taken the lead to provide such opportunities to our members.
"With MDIS coming on-board with additional suite of courses, MED now offers a more holistic professional development roster to our members for their bright future. What is more, we have a special recognition tier for our Union Leaders where all the Union exco members shall get special training privilege up to $5,000 or 20% off on degree and post-degree courses at MDIS.”
