NTUC Leadership Change

The National Trades Union Congress Central Committee held a meeting this afternoon and accepted the resignation by Secretary-General Chan Chun Sing from the NTUC Central Committee with effect from 22 May 2018.

The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) Central Committee held a meeting this afternoon and accepted the resignation by Secretary-General Chan Chun Sing from the NTUC Central Committee with effect from 22 May 2018.

The NTUC Central Committee also unanimously elected Deputy Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng as NTUC Secretary-General with effect 22 May 2018.

Deputy Secretary-General Ng was appointed and co-opted into the NTUC Central Committee on 23 April 2018. From 1 May 2018, he served the Labour Movement full time after relinquishing his appointments as Minister for Education (Schools) and Second Minister for Transport.

On behalf of the Labour Movement, NTUC President Mary Liew penned a valedictory letter to Secretary-General Chan for his service and leadership in strengthening the relevance and representativeness of the Labour Movement to better serve the working people in Singapore. The valedictory letter is enclosed for reporting.
