~ The NTUC May Day Awards 2025 recognises awardees for their continuous efforts in enhancing workers’ wages, welfare and work prospects ~

 

The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) will hold its annual May Day Awards at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre on 25 April 2025, Friday. As Singapore marks 60 years of nation-building, the NTUC May Day Awards 2025 recognises exceptional organisations and individuals who exemplify the shared values of boldness and resilience that have shaped Singapore, demonstrating unwavering commitment and care in championing workers’ interests.

In line with the May Day 2025 theme, "For You, With You, Because You Matter", 37 outstanding organisations who have made meaningful contributions to the Labour Movement and the lives and livelihoods of workers will be awarded under the following NTUC May Day Awards 2025 categories:

  3. Plaque of Commendation
  4. Partner of Labour Movement

 

These organisations have played a key role in improving wages, welfare, and work prospects for their workers. They embraced and pushed for workplace transformation and upskilling to prepare their workers for the future of work. The organisations also exemplified the importance of tripartism, a uniquely Singapore model where unions, employers and the Government work together to cultivate industrial harmony and create a fair and progressive environment for every business and worker to thrive.

 

Institutional organisations recognised for contributions to nation-building and the Labour Movement

 

Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is the sole awardee for the prestigious Plaque of Commendation (Star). URA has been a strong advocate for workforce development through its close partnership with the Singapore Urban Redevelopment Authority Workers’ Union (SURAWU). Together, they established a NTUC Company Training Committee (CTC) to enhance skills development and career progression for URA employees, ensuring they remain competent and adaptable in an evolving work landscape. In addition to strengthening skill competencies, URA has enhanced wages and benefits to better meet their employees’ needs. URA and SURAWU have also implemented progressive workplace practices, including flexible work arrangements and age-inclusive policies, to support employees’ well-being and work-life harmony. These initiatives demonstrated URA’s commitment to fostering a supportive and future-ready workplace for their employees.

 

Leica Instruments (Singapore) Pte Ltd, SATS Ltd, Senoko Energy and Takashimaya Singapore Ltd will also be receiving the Plaque of Commendation (Gold) for their commitment and continuous efforts towards supporting the Labour Movement’s initiatives. Senoko Energy has been a steadfast partner of the Union of Power and Gas Employees (UPAGE) for nearly 50 years. To better prepare employees for disruptions in the energy sector, the company prioritises job upskilling, ensuring that employees receive an average of 40 training hours annually, supported by Senoko Energy’s own long-standing Certified On-the-Job Training Centre. Beyond workforce development, Senoko Energy fosters a strong workplace culture, maintaining excellent working conditions and a robust safety and wellness framework. These efforts have cemented its reputation as an employer of choice among workers in the in the energy sector.

 

Organisations lauded for advancing workers' wages, welfare and work prospects

 

NTUC also recognises organisations for their proactive efforts in enhancing work prospects for both Professionals, Managers and Executives (PMEs), and lower-wage workers. These efforts include the establishment of the NTUC CTC and Operation & Technology Roadmap (OTR) to ensure workers continuously develop their skills and remain adaptable in tandem with business transformation and be better positioned to thrive in the evolving workplace.

 

Awardees of the Plaque of Commendation have shown remarkable dedication to enhancing employees’ work prospects. Sengkang General Hospital has partnered with the Healthcare Services Employees’ Union (HSEU) and NTUC Industry Training and Transformation (IT&T) to streamline work processes, and are now jointly working on a non-stock inventory management system that will further enhance job efficiency for 900 nurses. These initiatives lessen the administrative load on healthcare professionals, allowing them to focus on clinical care and professional development.

 

Partner of Labour Movement awardees have made significant contributions to promote and support the Labour Movement. Creative Eateries Pte Ltd is a progressive and inclusive employer who hires and re-employs senior workers actively. To enhance workers’ wages and welfare, the company offers annual increments, profit-sharing incentives, and sponsors NTUC memberships so that their workers can enjoy the benefits and workplace protection offered by NTUC.

 

Fellow Partner of Labour Movement awardee, Winning International Group Pte Ltd, has shown great support for migrant workers, contributing over $1 million to the Migrant Workers’ Assistance Fund during the Covid-19 pandemic. This enabled the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) to facilitate remote clinical care for migrant workers through telemedicine equipment, a crucial service during the pandemic. After the pandemic, the organisation also continued contributing to MWC’s initiatives that engaged and supported migrant workers who were unable to return home during festive periods, in line with NTUC’s commitment to care for all workers.
