Almost 4,000 children from NTUC First Campus showed gratitude to healthcare workers through creative appreciation cards.

Selected cards were framed and presented to various healthcare institutions through the Healthcare Services Employees’ Union (HSEU).

The appreciation comes amidst Healthcarers’ month, celebrated by HSEU in September.

NTUC, My First Skool and HSEU have begun presenting selected cards to the National Healthcare Group, National University Health Systems, Singapore Health Services (SingHealth) and Raffles Hospital.

They will complete the presentation of the cards to all the healthcare institutions by the end of September.

NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng said: “It’s really heartening to see our young, our children, showing their appreciation or engaging in fun activities. We hope these messages will warm the hearts of our healthcare workers.”

Appreciation for Sacrifices During the Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the work of healthcare workers and other frontliners. They worked tirelessly to keep the healthcare system afloat despite numerous reports of manpower shortages and burnout.

This appreciation initiative is part of the Labour Movement’s ongoing efforts to show support for all healthcare workers.

NTUC has supported these healthcare workers through several initiatives since the onset of the pandemic.

They included distributing care packs, providing priority queues in NTUC FairPrice stores and bringing the ‘FairPrice on Wheels’ initiative nearer to their workplaces.

Healthcarers’ Month

Since 2015, HSEU has marked every September as Healthcarers’ month to honour the contributions of healthcare workers.

NTUC said that HSEU aims to celebrate the integral role of healthcare workers in successfully managing the pandemic, which played a significant role in restarting the economy.

HSEU will continue to appreciate healthcare workers this September through one-day bazaars. They can visit vendor booths selling items such as food and beverages, accessories, and financial and training products.
