Today, NTUC-U Care Fund launched the "We Care for families b'coz U Care" campaign, a community initiative to encourage its union members and the general public to show their support and help low-income workers cope with their cost of living, through the purchase of FairPrice housebrand products. Supported by NTUC FairPrice Foundation, the campaign aims to contribute $2.6 million for the beneficiaries of NTUC-U Care Fund.
From now till 31 August 2016, with every housebrand item sold through its network of over 290 outlets comprising FairPrice supermarkets, FairPrice Finest, FairPrice Xtra and convenience shop formats; FairPrice Foundation will donate $1 to the NTUC-U Care Fund. The five FairPrice housebrands include FairPrice, Pasar, Pasar Organic, Home Proud and FairPrice Gold.
The campaign launch event was graced by Mr Seah Kian Peng, Chief Executive Officer of NTUC FairPrice and Director of NTUC FairPrice Foundation. Mr Seah said, “FairPrice is committed to making lives better for our community and we continue to give back through the NTUC-U Care Fund. This community engagement programme is a meaningful initiative as it meets the dual objectives of our social mission and in Doing Good. Through FairPrice housebrand products, customers enjoy better value for their daily essentials and play a part to raise awareness and support the less fortunate. ”
“We are very grateful for the continued support from FairPrice Foundation year after year to reach out to our union members who may need a little extra help. We would like to encourage all our union members and the general public to patronise any FairPrice outlets this month to lend their support as well. It is through the collective effort from the community that we can truly make a difference and touch many lives,” said Mr Zainal Sapari, Assistant Secretary-General and Director, Care and Share Department, NTUC.
FairPrice Foundation has donated a total of $21.7 million to the NTUC-U Care Fund since the Fund was set up in 2009. The donation from FairPrice Foundation will contribute to the Labour Movement’s fundraising efforts to raise $10.5 million this year to continue assisting our low-income members and their families.
