NTUC Club extended its hand of charity by raising a total of $6,000 that went towards the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. The donation drive was organised by the Social Enterprises’ Human Resource Department where staff were encouraged to contribute a donation to give back to needy children of the community.
The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund started in 2000 as a community project initiated by The Straits Times that provides pocket money to children from low-income families to help them through school. The children are able to use this money for buying meals during recess and paying for their bus fares or other school-related expenses. In addition, this also helps to ease the financial burden of their parents who are already struggling to feed their families on their meagre incomes.
