NTUC Club celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. We chart their incredible journey of providing fun for the well-being of every worker in Singapore.
1988: NTUC Pasir Ris Resort was officially opened by then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.
1987: NTUC Club’s first clubhouse, Club SW was officially opened in Shenton Way, by the late Mr Ong Teng Cheong, then NTUC Secretary-General and Second Deputy Prime Minister.
1989: NTUC Club opened its second clubhouse in Jurong, the first in the heartlands.
1991: NTUC Pasir Ris Resort upgraded 144 chalet units into superior rooms.
1994: NTUC Sentosa Beach Resort was officially opened by then NTUC Secretary-General Lim Boon Heng.
- NTUC Club opened a new-generation clubhouse, Paradigm, in the Orchard Road area.
1995: Completion of Begonia Pavilion, a complex housing ballroom and three seminar rooms, at NTUC Pasir Ris Resort,creating a suitable venue for small and medium-sized events such as corporate retreats, meetings, seminars or even weddings.
- Happy Days clubhouse was opened in Bishan.
1997: Quebec Leisure International Pte Ltd was acquired as a subsidiary of NTUC Club to provide events management and other event services.
- Clubhouses Celebrations and Jest D’Place opened in Hougang and Choa Chu Kang respectively.
2000: Completion of $30 million re-development of NTUC Pasir Ris Resort, including the construction of Escape Theme Park. NTUC Pasir Ris Resort was re-launched as NTUC Lifestyle World – Downtown East.
- Completion of $1 million upgrading exercise at Costa Sands Resort (Sentosa). Ten dormitory-style rooms were converted to 34 superior rooms.
- Union Square clubhouse was opened in Tanjong Pagar.
2002: Costa Sands Resort (East Coast and Pasir Ris) were acquired, bringing the total number of rooms to 812, making NTUC Club the largest resort operator in Singapore.
2005: The Family Recreation FUNd was launched to help lower-income members and their families achieve better work-life balance.
- DXO clubhouse was officially opened by then NTUC Secretary-General Lim Boon Heng.
2006: Subsidiary NCI Golf Pte Ltd opened Marina Bay Golf Course, the first 18-hole public golf course in Singapore.
- Subsidiary Family Leisure Pte Ltd acquired three more bowling centres, bringing the number of Orchid Bowl centres to four.
2011: eXplorerkid launched a new satellite centre at AMK Hub to increase accessibility of its facilities and services for members.
2012: NTUC Club unveiled $200 million five-year master plan to refresh Downtown East.
