NTUC Charity Dinner 2006 for NTUC ElderCare Co-operative Ltd and ElderCare Trust

Dear Editor,
1 As part of its efforts for developing affordable and quality community services for Singaporeans, the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) will be organising a Charity Dinner on 8 September 2006 to raise funds for NTUC ElderCare Co-operative Ltd and ElderCare Trust.
2. NTUC ElderCare’s main core activity is operating social day care centres for the elderly. Besides this, it also offers a range of auxiliary services that caters to the needs of the elderly and their family members as well as being involved in other community projects/activities.
3. Currently, there are three centres at Marsiling, Taman Jurong and Pasir Ris. Elderly come to these centres to interact, exercise, take up hobbies, so that they can remain mentally, physically and socially active and healthy.
4. The funds raised through the Charity Dinner will help the Co-operative in moving forward. More than $600,000 has been raised through NTUC‘s affiliated unions, co-operatives and other corporate sponsors over the last few months, surpassing this year’s target of $300,000. Among the main donors are Singapore Labour Foundation and ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited that contributed $150,000 and $120,000 respectively. Both organizations have also contributed to the Co-operative last year.
