The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) celebrated National Day at the NTUC x NDP Bay Celebrations at the Promontory @ Marina Bay on 9 August 2024. The two-day event, themed “Celebrate SG Youth”, marks the first large-scale National Day Celebration organised by NTUC in nearly a decade.
One of the event’s highlights was the symbolic moment “In a Heartbeat”. Attendees donned LED wristbands, which pulsed in unison as one heartbeat to symbolise the solidarity of Singaporeans. This mesmerising display – symbolising the NDP 2024 theme, “Together, As One United People” – took place during a rendition of “Home” performed by singer-songwriter Shye, The Jazzlings, and DJ Red.
Attendees also participated in various interactive installations, such as “Ties That Bind”, “Friendship Bracelets”, and the Photobooth and “Memory Lane” installation, created to capture experiences and symbolise strength and unity. The crowd were also captivated by dynamic live performances from a diverse line-up of home-grown artists including Iman Fandi, Yung Raja, 53A.
Celebrate SG Youth because #EveryYouthMatters
Ms Natasha Choy, Executive Secretary, Young NTUC, and Co-Chairperson of the NTUC Bay Celebrations Organising Committee, said, “It has been nearly a decade since NTUC’s last large-scale National Day Celebrations, and we are delighted to see so many fellow Singaporeans joining us to celebrate this special day together, with a focus on our youths. NTUC remains committed to demonstrating our care for young people and co-creating a future where #EveryYouthMatters.”
