The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) Central Committee (CC) has endorsed the appointment of five NTUC directors Desmond Choo Pey Ching, Patrick Tay Teck Guan, Melvin Yong Yik Chye, Yeo Wan Ling and Caryn Lim Tze Ching as Assistant Secretaries-General (ASGs).

These new appointments are part of NTUC’s goals to develop and refresh its leadership team for the next four years as articulated at the quadrennial NTUC National Delegates’ Conference 2023, held from 22 to 23 November 2023. Their collective knowledge and experience from helping workers on the ground and building tripartite relationships over the years would strengthen the Labour Movement’s organisational capabilities. This is important to allow NTUC to continue to be relevant to and representative of the diverse and growing workforce and strengthen their social compact with workers.

The newly appointed ASGs are poised to support the new CC in fulfilling the Labour Movement’s goals. They will continue to serve the Labour Movement in their current portfolios as they expand their suite of products and services to better serve the evolving needs of all working people. See Annex A for key highlights of their roles in NTUC.
