NDCA’s Statement on a dedicated workgroup for last mile deliveries

The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced today that a dedicated workgroup formed in November 2023 is seeking feedback from multiple stakeholders to develop solutions to improve last-mile deliveries.

The National Delivery Champions Association (NDCA) welcomes this collaborative effort in bringing together various stakeholders, including NDCA, an NTUC-affiliated association, to address the challenges faced by delivery workers. Since its inception in Dec 2020, NDCA has been actively engaging delivery workers to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges that they are facing in their course of work and identifying tangible solutions to address them.

For example, in 2022, the NDCA noticed that some of the features at Ang Mo Kio Hub may pose safety risks for food delivery riders. Taking proactive steps, NDCA conducted site visits and worked closely with the mall operator and LTA to improve the infrastructure, such as installing clear signages and strategically placing speed humps. Feedback from delivery riders has been positive following these improvements.

NDCA will continue to champion the interest of delivery workers and work closely with the relevant stakeholders to find viable and sustainable solutions to their challenges, ensuring better welfare and fostering respect for them. These efforts will ultimately improve work environments and provide better support for all delivery workers.
