This year’s Lunar New Year celebrations by the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) will see some 30,000 migrant workers joining in and learning about the festival.
A series of celebratory events has been lined up from 9 to 12 and 16 to 17 February 2013, with concerts showcasing international artistes, day-long carnivals and magic shows for the workers.
The workers will also be able to learn more about local customs and social norms through the MWC static exhibition display.
“While many of us get the opportunity to hug our parents, to receive a warm smile, and listen to heartwarming stories, there are many workers who are unable to return home to share this important period with their loved ones.
“We may not be their families, but we want these workers to know that they are not alone and that they do have people who care for them here in Singapore,” said MWC Chairman Yeo Guat Kwang.
